This morning I was thinking about a particular young person I know. Later she texted me because she needed help with how to file her taxes. I was able to direct her to what had used for my kids. She did the work herself and got a great refund, which she never had received before. I was glad to help in a small way and even more gad she got a refund!

Friedrich Nietzsche said, “The essential thing ‘in heaven and earth’ is… that there should be long obedience in the same direction; there thereby results, and has always resulted in the long run, something which has made life worth living.” Eugene Peterson wrote a book entitled A Long Obedience in the Same Direction, and as someone who has served in the same city since 1982, I claim that as my something that makes life worth living.
